DERBY, Kan. — Kathleen Allen of the Wichita Antique Doll Study Club delivered a special presentation at the Derby Historical Museum on May 17, spotlighting a rare and historically significant collection of Works Progress Administration (WPA) dolls.
The museum’s WPA doll set is believed to be among the most complete remaining in Kansas, offering a unique glimpse into Depression-era craftsmanship. Allen’s talk also featured insights into other notable antique dolls, providing historical context and highlighting their cultural significance.
The event marked a key moment in the museum’s 30th anniversary celebration, which includes a series of guest speakers and commemorative activities scheduled throughout the 2025 season.
