MILFORD, Del. – The Milford Historical Society is set to host its annual Spring Antique Show on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place on the picturesque lawn of the historic Parson Thorne Mansion, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of antique items from local vendors.
In addition to antiques, the Milford Garden Club will be on hand with plants for sale, and a master gardener will provide expert advice on planting and gardening. Ralph Prettyman, president of the Milford Historical Society, highlighted the long-standing tradition of the event, noting, “Our dealers have been coming for decades, and we are excited to offer some unique items from several different vendors.”
The Parson Thorne Mansion, one of Milford’s oldest structures, has a rich history. It was donated to the historical society in 1961 by the Draper family and once served as the home of a Delaware governor. Visitors will have the chance to tour the mansion with the help of volunteers and enjoy light refreshments prepared using recipes from the 1700s and 1800s.
Typically open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the mansion will only be open on the first Saturday of May. Admission is $1, with donations encouraged to support the preservation of this historic site.
The Spring Antique Show is a popular event for both residents and visitors, offering a blend of local history, antiques, and community engagement.
